My name is Steve and I am passionate about creating 3D maps. It is my creative outlet in this crazy world. I get goosebumps when creating new maps, seriously! So, whether you want a tiny keepsake to sit on a mantle piece or a piece of 3D cartography in a solid Oak frame, I’m listening.
I grew up in Cumbria with a view of the Mountains from the kitchen window that I would sit at before going to school. After a decade and a half working in Mechanical Engineering, I decided it wasn’t for me so I set up Mountain Castings and took a part-time job in the Lake District where I can now be found driving the boats on Lake Ullswater.
Since beginning the business I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredibly creative people from all over the world. I’ve shipped to the States, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and more. I’ve worked on commissions big and small with organisations, charities, and entrepreneurs.
My maps are available in Bronze, Copper, or Silver (Aluminium). Either Framed or Unframed. I keep things affordable by using the ‘Cold Cast’ technique. Which is real metal powders mixed to a high ratio with resin which once given a patina and polish looks amazing.
The good news is the whole world has been scanned and the data is available to create 3D models from, it’s exciting times! If you’re wanting a map of an area in England there is some incredibly accurate data available to 1Metre, it’s mind-blowing and the models that can be made from this are so cool I love working with it.
So, get in touch if you have an idea for a 3D map no matter how crazy you think it might be!
